How often do I/does my child attend?
For counselling to be effective, weekly sessions are advised. The length of each session is 50 minutes.
The overall amount of counselling sessions wanted can be discussed during the initial assessment session.
This could be three sessions, six, eight or more depending on individual circumstances.
What is confidentiality?
What is said during counselling is confidential to the client and counsellor. This creates a safe space in which
a client feels comfortable to talk things through. There are some limitations to this; the counsellor will take
anonymous material to supervision to ensure good practice and secondly if an issue of abuse or risk is
disclosed this may mean breaking confidentiality.
Parents/carers will naturally want to know how their child is doing. For this reason I aim to include at least
one session where the parent/carer is invited to come along.
